What’s Michelle doing now?May 08 Picture Buyers´ Fair & London Stock.Michelle visted the London Picture Buyers Fair at the Islington Design Centre May 7th and 8th, 2008. ![]() May 08 Photographing the World Famous Oriental Hotel in Bangkok.Michelle Chaplow has been commissioned to work on this latest edition of the Oriental Hotel in Bankok's history, written by Andreas Augustin and Andrew Williamson. Jim Thompson, the silk king, owned the Hotel. The late Peter Ustinov loved it. Somerset Maugham has a suite named in his honour and Michael Jackson hid from the press there. The queens of the screen stayed at the hotel, the Queen of England enjoyed it and Her Majesty, the Queen of Thailand, is a beloved, faithful regular at this infamous establishement. Photographer Michelle Chaplow was chosen to revamp the books images. Read more in the Published Works section. May 08 Andalucia's History in Photos.Michelle Chaplow has just completed the all the photography for a new book entitled Andalucia, A Cultural History by John Gil who is also the author of the Thomas Cook Guide to Seville and Andalucia and The Essential Gaudi. This book traces the origins of Andalucia from the earliest hominid settlers in the Granada mountains 1.8 million years ago, through successive Phoenician, Greek, Roman and Muslim cultures, and the past five hundred years of modern Castilian rule, up to and including the present day of post-modern novelists in Córdoba and Sevilla, guerrilla urban archaeologists in Torremolinos and Marbella, and underground lo-fi bands in Granada and Málaga. Andalucia is the sum of its ancient cultures and also a pointer to where Europe is heading, a beacon for both wealthy north Europeans and refugees from the south, a garden of earthly delights for some, a terminal beach for others. The book will be published in July by Signal Books Publishing house in London.
April 08 Michelle Chaplow's Extremadura Photos in the Sunday Telegraph.Michelle provided stock images of a local village band. The image was shot in one of the most remote regions of the Iberian Peninsula, Extremadura. The various regions of Spain are very diverse in terms of culture and traditions. Published in a feature on Extremadura and its Parador Hotels in the Sunday Telegraph Travel section. April 08 Wedding brochure for Velden Castle Hotel. Velden, Austria.Michelle Chaplow was commissioned by the luxurious Schloss Velden Hotel to produce images for their bridal brochure to promote weddings in this unique castle hotel. This luxurious getaway is situated in a privileged position on the tip of Worthersee lake in Carinthia, southern Austria, very near to the Italian and Slovenian boarders. A collection of 12 images were produced. Styling, models and make up were coordinated by Perfect Events. Michelle worked with a crew of eight people during the commission. Schloss Velden is an exclusive venue indeed for any bride and groom, with its unique location, architecture, private marina and awarding winning spa. April 08 The imperial Hotel, Vienna, Austria, goes green.The Imperial hotel in Vienna is not only one of the most historically fascinating Hotels in Vienna with its rich list of Royals and distinguished guests, its extremely eco- friendly.

March 08 Semana Santa, Andalucia.Michelle produced a photo documentary of the Semana processions in the historic town of Ronda on Holy Thursday and the morning of good Friday. In this picture an attractive, young lady is wearing a black "Mantia de Manila" veil. Black signifies mourning and devotion to the Christ and the Virgin. The young woman is following the procession of the Hermandad del Santisimo Cristo de los Remedios & Nuestra Senora de Las Angustias through the old town of Ronda.
March 08 Luxury Hotel, Barcelona.Barcelona’s emblematic lap of luxury, the La Florida Hotel has commissioned Michelle Chaplow to produce top quality images of the conference facilities for the hotel itself. March 08 Andalucia, Spain. History Book.Internationally renowned travel photographer, Michelle Chaplow, continues to work on the History Book, an Andalucia-wide project that takes her to the main historical sites of the region, including the Roman Ruins of Ancinipo, Italica and the Moorish remains in Cordoba to mention just a few. The book will be published in the summer of 2008.

Photographic workshop.Starting January 28, travel photographer Michelle Chaplow begins a five day tour into the very heart of the Andalucian countryside and culture - with hidden pueblos, stunning castle views and even a flamenco model. The January Workshop is limited to five students and is an excellent way to improve your photographic skills.
January 08 Andalucia, Spain. Food Photography.Michelle has been commissioned to carry out the photography for a new Tapas book, "The essence of Spain", which will be launched in the Spring of 2008. The majority of the imagery will be shot in Michelle´s studio where she is working with her assistants Joaquin Alarcon Perez and David Doyle, a specialist in food styling who has flown in from Ireland for the commission. The book covers delicious Tapas recipes such as the classic "Salmorejo" and the Spanish Tortilla, plus lots of new creative cuisine from different regions of Spain. The styling of the imagery is fresh, clean and bold.

November 07 Koh Samui.Michelle is currently relaxing and photographing on the island of Koh Samui. She will return to Bangkok to cover the Loy Krathong festival. It's a once a year event that coincides with the full moon. A Thai tradition to houour the river gods, garlands of flowers are offered to the river, to wash away sins and bring good luck in the year. November 07 Bangkok.Michelle is working on Location in Bangkok and will be working on pictures to update a book on the history of the world famous Oriental Hotel by Andreas Agustin and Andrew Williamson. November 07 Volvo Masters, Valderrama Sotogrande.The Volvo Masters, the Grand Golf Finale of the European Tour season, celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year. Michelle was at Valderrama covering the tournament.

October 07 International colour awards.Michelle Chaplow receives a Nominee in the category of Architecture at the 2nd Annual Photography Masters Cup. The Photography Master Cup is a global online awards show recognizing excellence in color photography. This celebrated event shines a spotlight on the world's finest photographers. The awards Jury represents the most influential art directors, agencies, editors, galleries, and publishers from the world of photography, advertising and entertainment. The Jury were passionate about viewing the images, spending eight weeks reviewing entries online before making their final selections.

July 07 Barcelona Historic Hotels.Michelle will be photographing luxury hotels with historical connections in Barcelona for Famous Hotels of the World.July 07, August 07, September 07, Andalucia.The Andalucia.com calendar is now in its fifth edition; shooting has commenced and the crew will be on the road from July until September.July 07 South West Coast of Ireland.Michelle is currently shooting stock on the Emerald Isle, including lush, green pastures and smoke-free pubs!July 07 Almadraba Tuna fishing update, Costa de la Luz, Spain.2007 has been the scarcest and most incredibly short season for tuna fishing and this coincided with an unprecedented number of requests for press accreditation to cover the event. In the end, the TV company filmed in Italy, the only other place where the Almadraba technique is still practised today. Michelle, alongside numerous other members of the media, is now on the list for 2008. That’s one of the amazing and magical things about nature and photography; nothing is certain, making the achievement far greater in the long run June 07 Southern Spain.Michelle has been commissioned by a London based designer to photograph two private homes situated in the picturesque village of Vejer de la Frontera in the Province of Cadiz, Andalucia. June 07 Almadraba, Costa del Luz, Spain.An American TV crew working on behalf of National Geographic has requested still images of the Almadraba tuna fishing on the Costa de la Luz. Arrangements have been made with the Association of Tuna Fishers and a suitable weather window is being awaited. May 07 Marbella Hotel Refurb.Fuerte Hotels Group in Marbella, Spain, have commissioned Michelle to provide additional images of the recent refurbishment of their founding hotel in Marbella. May 07 Fifth Edition of Andalucia Calendar.The next two-year, limited edition calendar of Andalucia will cover 2008 and 2009.
