Capitol Hill, Congress, Washington D.C.

So many are aware of the Congress dome from the outside, but how many people know what’s on the inside?
I took this image whilst on assignment for the Library of Congress. The painting, the Apotheosis of Washington was painted in 1865 by the American Italian artist Constantino Brumidi. There is a constant flow of visitors to congress. I was lucky enough to be under the dome alone, I lay the camera on
the floor set a 30 second exposure and automatic release. It worked, and within minutes the Rotunda was bustling with visitors once again.
